Florida guide report - Orlando park tickets
When is the best time to book park and attraction tickets? Where should I buy these tickets? Well there are many ways to do this but some are more expensive and trouble than others.
When I first travelled to Orlando back in 1994 there were a lot of small kiosk building scattered along the 192 in Kissimmee and International drive selling park tickets at ‘amazing discount’ rates. Most of these advertised discounted tickets almost half the price of the ones advertised in the holiday brochures and at the park gates. But like many things in life when a discount is too good to be true it normally is. We ended up leaving it as few days and booked via our representative in the hotel, it was only there that they told us to stay well clear of these booths as they are tempting you to sit through a timeshare presentation. These were subsidised tickets paid for by the timeshare companies.
Ever since then we have always shopped around for the best price GENUINE tickets and always tell our guests where the best places are to go to get them.
There are other places that can give you very good discounts on park tickets, a lot of villa owners are normally linked to these companies and because they have great buying power, these can normally offer them cheaper, than direct on the gate. Buying tickets via www.floridaridgevilla.com is ideal as not only are all tickets genuine, as they can arrange easy pick up when you arrive. Generally buying from an internet can save you a few dollars on the gate prices, no matter what site you buy them from.
The next way to buy tickets is at the gate of the park. Again this is not recommended, as they are more expensive. You will pay for the privilege to buy them at the gate as well, not to mention the time lost in standing in the queue to pick them up. In general the park can be anything up to 20% per ticket more expensive if you buy them on the day, times this by 4 people and you can save quite a bit by buying in advance.
The final way is via larger stores that advertise tickets. These do sell tickets at reduced rates on the park gates, but do not come close to the internet for savings. Again some of these can take you down the lines of timeshare, but if they are just walk away and find one that does not. I managed to find many down the 192 in Kissimmee offering this service.
Another plus point for buying your Disney Tickets early is the fact you can now register them on the Disney APP (for smartphone and Tablets) and then book your FASTPASS + rides in advance at times that suit. You are allowed up to 3 x FASTPASS + per day at each park. So not only do you get extra discounts by buying your tickets in advance, you also get the added bonus of the FASTPASS + priority service.
When buying tickets it is also best to have a written plan of what you are doing on what days of the week. Not only will this help better plan, it will also allow you to get only the tickets you want and not have any spare at the end of your stay. Yes purchasing more tickets can be cheaper, but if you are not going to use them, you have still paid for them. Florida residents should also look at special offers as sometimes it can work out cheaper buying a season ticket.
I now always advise guests staying at our villa to buy park tickets via our website. Not only are these competitive, they are also delivered to your door or can be collected at the Villa. You will be getting genuine tickets and no timeshare sales people will be involved. Yes there are places that sell them cheaper, but you will have to sit through hours of presentations through your holiday, something no one wants to do.
